March 28

Here is what we did today:

Kindergarten - We used simple shapes to draw an alligator and a giraffe. I love artwork done by kindergarten students!

3rd Grade - We began a collage of three cupcakes. Next time, we will add more details. They look good enough to eat!

5th Grade - We watercolored a background for a cityscape that we will be finishing next time. We also finished coloring our turtles using oil pastels and then used liquid watercolor to paint the background. The turtles look great!

March 21

This is what we did today:

First Grade - We used liquid watercolor to paint the background of our snakes. They are very colorful!

Second Grade - We drew a very simple zebra. Then we used liquid watercolor to paint the background. We added salt to the wet paint, and it made cool textures in the paint. They look fantastic!

Fourth Grade - We finished coloring our parrots with oil pastels. Then we used liquid watercolor to paint the backgrounds. They are bright and beautiful!

Sixth Grade - We finished drawing our chameleons, and then we began painting. We used liquid watercolor and added some salt and rubbing alcohol to the wet paint. The chameleons are bright and colorful and wonderful! After they finished their chameleon, they painted the background.

Come See Our Murals!

I hope you will stop by the school during Parent Teacher Conferences or another time soon to see our murals!

The mural for kindergarten, first, second, and third grades is across from the kindergarten room. It is called "Outside Our Window," and it shows what we can see. All of the artwork is done "Eric Carle" style. We painted paper and added some cool textures to the paint. Then we cut out the paper to make the artwork. Then we added details with oil pastels and more painted paper. Come and see our beautiful work!!!

The mural for fourth, fifth, and sixth grades is across from the library. It is called "Once Upon A Time," and it shows a fairy tale land. The fourth grades students painted portraits of kings and queens. The fifth and sixth grade students painted projects "Eric Carle" style. They also used the painted paper and oil pastels to design their project. Fifth grade students were the artists of the dragons, and sixth grade students were the artists of the castles. Please celebrate your child's work and come and see it!!

March 7

1st Grade - Today we used oil pastels to draw a snake and make designs on it. Next time, we will use liquid watercolors to paint the background. We had lots of beautiful designs!

2nd Grade - We finished our butterflies for the mural with kindergarten, first and third grades. Then we finished our fish from a long time ago. We had a catch-up day so our fish could hang on the Wildcat Art Wall and the butterflies could be added to the mural.

4th Grade - We used oil pastels to draw a parrot. We used lots of bright colors to make the parrots look fantastic! Next time we will use liquid watercolors to paint the background.

6th Grade - We used a black oil pastel to draw a chameleon. They look fabulous! Next time we will use liquid watercolors and add other items to the paint to make the chameleon have some great texture.

February 29

Kindergarten - We used some green painted paper and brown construction paper to make trees. The trees will be included in the mural that kindergarten, first, second, and third grades are helping to make. Each tree is unique and wonderful!

3rd Grade - We began drawing a giraffe using oil pastels. Next time we will be adding some liquid watercolor to the background. Yeah!

5th Grade - We finished our dragons for the mural that we are working on with fourth and sixth grades. The dragons look fantastic!
